The project's goal

Major browsers Firefox 2.0 and Internet Explorer 7.0 have support for search plugins. It gives them possibility extends standart search bar with other search engines. It is very useful and cool feature.

Browsers have built-in mechanism for adding users search plugins. But it have orientation to personal use, not for sharing. By the way, mechanism not works sometimes.

Opposite, OpenSearch editor is developing for search plugins contributors. The project's main goal to help to create and support collection of Opensearch plugins. Or to help webmasters provide user's browser integration with search at their (webmasters) sites.

The project's principles

OpenSearch editor is absolutely free opensource software. The distribution license is GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE version 3, 29 June 2007. The source available from Sourceforge SVN-repository and as standalone archive (see download page).

Only free and opensource tools using to creating OpenSearch editor. It is Ubuntu linux,Eclipse as Java IDE,Aptana studio for creating this site.
